2013 Porsche Cayman CTR3

2013 Porsche Cayman CTR3 Clubsport by RUF wallpaper image

After being teased for quite some time, RUF’s new CTR3 Clubsport finally made its world debut at the 2012 General Motor Show. Built as an evolution of the standard RUF CTR3, the new Clubsport version features some of the classic 1950s styling cues that were itching to get on a more modern interpretation.
The RUF CTR3 Clubsport has received a carbon fiber treatment on the fenders, door sills, rear deck lid, and the roof mounted air-duct to add a little flair to the already impeccable Cayman tuning package. A functional rigid rear spoiler also provides the car with more stability while driving at high speeds, which is a necessity in a vehicle such as this.
Powering the RUF CTR3 Clubsport is a twin turbocharged 3.8 liter flat six cylinder engine with an output of 750 HP at 7100 rpm and a peak torque of 708 lb-ft at 4000 rpm - that’s an increase of 50 HP over a standard RUF CTR3. The engine is mated to a 6-speed sequential gearbox and can sprint the car up to an impressive top speed of 229 mph

2013 Lucra Sports Cars LC470 Is Incredibly Fast

2013 Lucra Sports Cars LC470 Is Incredibly Fast

Lucra Cars is famous for building street legal beasts that are amazingly fast. To the delight of all the power and speed enthusiasts out there, Lucra sports cars has released the first renderings of 2013 LC470, which, like its previous model, is incredibly fast.
2013 Lucra Sports Cars LC470 Is Incredibly Fast

The mid- to late-1950s can easily be called the first golden era of sports car racing. Not only did this period see factory-backed sports racing cars from the likes of Jaguar, Ferrari, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz (briefly) and Chevrolet (even more briefly), but also cars from independent builders like Lister, Scarab and Lotus that only built the bodies and chassis and had to source (or their customers had to source) powertrains from a major manufacturer or racing engine builder.

Lucra Cars, owned by sports car aficionado Luke Richards and founded in 2006, is known for making barely street-legal cars birthed from modern Corvette chassis components and customized composite body. Weighing in just under 2,000 pounds, the 2013 Lucra Sports Cars LC470 Is Incredibly Fast, likely powered by the Corvette ZR1’s 630 horsepower 6.2-liter supercharged V8, will sprint from 0-60 mph in an astonishing 2.5 seconds.

Lucra has made LC470 a superior to its predecessor – be it power, design or feature wise. The new car boasts new exterior look that comes from new bumpers, upgraded headlights and LED daytime running lights. The new 2013 Lucra Sports Cars LC470 is a much revised variation of the outgoing 400 horsepower 2007 model. The new version features updated headlights, LED daytime running lights, a new exhaust system, revised steering wheel and console interior elements.

Power of the 2013 Lucra Sports Cars LC470 Is Incredibly Fast comes from a GM-sourced engine, likely the Corvette ZL1's supercharged 6.2-liter V8, that produces 630 hp (470 kW / 639 PS). It reportedly enables the 900 kg (1,985 lbs) sports car to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) in just 2.5 seconds.
2013 Lucra Sports Cars LC470 Is Incredibly Fast

The engine and transmission 2013 Lucra Sports Cars LC470 Is Incredibly Fast are mounted well behind the centerline of the front axle, as well as being offset to the right by 1.25-inches. This improves side-to-side weight distribution when only the driver is onboard and, together with sticky tires and four-wheel independent suspension, helps the LC470 max out at a claimed 1.3 g in the corners.

And the body 2013 Lucra Sports Cars LC470 Is Incredibly Fast enveloping the chassis is made entirely of carbon fiber, so it weighs just 160 lbs., and it features new front and rear styling and LED lighting compared to the 2011-‘12 LC470.

2012 Mosler Raptor GTR

2012 Mosler Raptor GTR

One of the key points to this new supercar, is its 838 horsepower, twin turbo, 7.0 liter V-8. Unique to the RaptorGTR is its externally exposed, visible turbo’s, which were inspired by the F-22 Raptor fighting jet. The result of this configuration is one hell of a soundtrack for the driver. There will be a limited number of these ultra rare beasts on the to-build list of Mosler, so if you’ve been really good all year, it just might be worth the effort to put this $700,000 supercar on your Christmas list.
Of course, if you really want your car to be successful, you also have to address a few other necessities, such as power-to-weight ratio, handling, and safety. You aren’t going to enjoy your hypercar very long if you’re dead.
The Raptor has an ultra-light curb weight of just 2580 lbs, which means that its power-to-weight ratio is about 36 percent better than the 987 hp / 4,162 lb Bugatti Veyron. Taking advantage of its low ground clearance, low weight, and Nitto NT05R’s, the RaptorGTR can yield about 1.4 g’s of lateral grip. Mosler has also taken the initiative to incorporate a LeMans Prototype central carbon-fiber safety cell into the chasis, to help absorb the impact of any unfortunate run-in with an inanimate object.
For an extra $70,000 and a green light from a performance driving school, you can purchase an upgrade for the RaptorGTR (CubeyGTR Package), which includes a 1212 hike in horsepower, a newly designed front end, added air ducts to the intercooler, and an additional radiator. There will only be 12 of these special editions produced for 2012, and these will have a 50 percent better power-to-weight ratio to that of the Bugatti Veyron, and that’s at half the price.
Check out the intro video below, set to the release of the new song by Abby Cubey, called, Feel My Fire. If you listen close, you can hear the whoosh of the twin turbo’s that were made into an instrument for this special occasion.

2012 BMW Zagato Coupé (Part Two)

The two partners settled on a realistic and applied approach to the development of the BMW Zagato Coupé. "Zagato has always provided its customers with ready-to-drive cars which can be sent into action on the road or race track without further ado – and the BMW Zagato Coupé fits the same template," says Dr Andrea Zagato, who represents the third generation of his family to sit at the helm of the company. To this end, the car is registered for road use and meets all the legal requirements worldwide. "It is relatively easy to build a design study which is not intended for use on the road. Not having to meet any stipulations governing crash safety or pedestrian protection opens up a host of new avenues in terms of design," he adds. "The challenge lies in injecting the emotional appeal of a concept car into a road-legal machine. And we think we have succeeded in doing just that with the BMW Zagato Coupé." Indeed, the new creation has already cut a "bella figura" at high speeds during testing on the BMW test track.
Both partners can look back on a rich heritage, sharing as they do a passion for cars that stretches back over 80 years. Added to which, Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice-President BMW Group Design, and Andrea Zagato are long-time appreciators of each other's work; indeed, Zagato took home the prestigious Concorso d'Eleganza Design Award in both 2010 and 2011. However, this collaboration is about more than mutual respect.
Zagato chief designer Norihiko Harada and van Hooydonk have been friends for many years, so when Andrea Zagato proposed a collaboration, it wasn't long before the decision was made to build a car at Zagato that embodies the two companies' passion for cars.

2012 BMW Zagato Coupé (Part One)

2012 BMW Zagato Coupé

The Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este will once again host a spectacular world premiere in 2012 and, in so doing, build on its tradition as a gathering of the industry's leading coachbuilders. The premiere in question will see the time-honoured Milanese coachbuilder Zagato team up with BMW to unveil the result of a unique collaboration: the BMW Zagato Coupé.
Zagato has worked in close collaboration to create an exciting and emotionally charged coupé in the finest tradition of automotive workmanship. The BMW Zagato Coupé embodies the unbridled fascination of cars and fuses the design DNA of the two companies into a fresh and desinctive whole. This one-off model is the product of many hours of skilled hand-craftsmanship and breathes new life into the tradition of coachbuilding.
It is hard to think of a better occasion for the premiere than the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, one of the most exclusive events in the world of classic cars and motorcycles. The vehicles shown on the banks of Lake Como are hand-picked, the number of entrants limited and the surroundings simply without comparison. The Concorso began as a get-together of coachbuilders presenting one-off hand-built creations, and the BMW Zagato Coupé follows very much in that tradition.
