From Sketch to Reality: Pininfarina Sergio Concept Design Process Shown in New Video Pininfarina’s Sergio concept is a tribute to the man who founded and lent his name to the Italian design house four decades ago. Featuring Ferrari badges, the Sergio concept also recognizes the Italian sports car maker’s support of Pininfarina through the years. This video shows how the Sergio went from an initial sketch to a show-quality concept car in Geneva.

Pininfarina Sergio concept video image 1 300x104 imagePininfarina calls the Sergio concept a modern, organic interpretation of a mid-engine two-seat sports car, saying its design is compact, sporty, pure, and sensual. The design firm gives perhaps the best description of the car in its native Italian: “una barchetta biposto che guarda al future,” which roughly translates to “a two-seater boat that looks to the future.” The Sergio concept’s styling is meant to evoke the emotion of the founder’s designs from the 1960s and 1970s.
Based on Ferrari 458 Spider architecture and running gear, the production Sergio will be built to order in limited quantities for “special” clients, according to Pininfarina. In keeping with the pure race theme as well as occupant safety, two helmets will be included with the open-top Sergio concept.
Check out the video below to see how this radical concept was conceived.
